Cambio President Simon Szykman moderated this webinar, focused on The Future of Government Innovation and Security in a Quantum-Capable World, that was scheduled as a joint meeting of the ACT-IAC IT Management and Modernization and Emerging Technology Communities of Interest held on March 18th, 2025.
Commercially viable quantum computers are less than a decade away. Everyone knows that, because we’ve been hearing claims like this from the research community for the past 2-3 decades. Perhaps it’s true, or perhaps it’s continued over-optimism, but whatever the case, it is undeniable that the seeds of the market for quantum-related technologies have been planted, and are starting to bear fruit. Quantum information science is maturing as a field of study. Real-world applications of quantum technology are emerging, from measurement science, to novel sensors, to quantum computing. Numerous startups are focused on developing early generation quantum processors and quantum computers, and organizations such as the Quantum Economic Development Consortium are working to enable and grow the quantum industry. Governments and industry worldwide are also recognizing the implications of quantum on cyber security, and the need for a new generation of encryption algorithms to safeguard data and communications.
